Message From Our President

Hi everyone!

My name is Karen Preciado and I am the 2020-2021 chapter president for the Delta Theta Chapter of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated. What makes our organization unique is that we are the first and largest Latin sorority in the nation. I joined LTA because sisters were always so welcoming and success driven. Joining Greek life has helped my leadership skills grow along with strengthening my academic goals.

History

Lambda Theta Alpha was established as an academic sorority on December 1st, 1975 at Kean University in Union, New Jersey by our 17 founding mothers who wanted to create a space of empowerment for Latina women who were underrepresented on their campus at the time. Furthermore, the Delta Theta chapter was established at the University of California, Santa Barbara in the Spring of 2006 by our 22 founding sisters also known as the 22 Divas of Chaos. Our sorority colors are burgundy and grey and we abide by our principles of Unity, Love, and Respect.

Philanthropy

Our national philanthropy is St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In 2014, LTA expanded its partnership with St. Jude by becoming an official partner of the annual St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer, which brings communities across the nation together during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month to raise funds for the hospital. Every year, sisters participate in the walk/run to end childhood cancer
