Lambda Sigma Gamma

MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT

"Hello, my name is Brisa Jaime, and I am the proud president of Lambda Sigma Gamma Sorority, Inc., ZETA chapter. Coming to a predominantly white school as a first-generation student, I struggled to find a sense of belonging, but through Lambda Sigma Gamma Sorority Inc. I was able to find an organization that has helped me not only by preparing me with the professional skills that are needed in any workforce environment, but also by providing me with an incredible support system. This sorority has provided me with incredible sisters who uplift me and always remind me that I belong here. I am constantly surrounded by amazing women who come from different backgrounds and experiences, yet push each other to become the best version of ourselves. I love how welcoming and genuine my chapter is, and their commitment to our organization always keeps me in awe. I love how diverse our chapter is and that everyone comes from different creeds, ethnic groups, and socioeconomic backgrounds. I have learned valuable life lessons from each sister that I will cherish forever. I am proud to say that I have been a sister of Lambda Sigma Gamma Sorority Inc. since my freshman year, and joining this sorority is one of the best decisions I have ever made. This organization has helped me flourish in ways I thought a freshman in college couldn’t. It gave me the right support system I didn’t know I needed and helped me feel comfortable being away from home. As I go into my third year, it truly has been a pleasure to be a part of an organization that prides itself on community, change, diversity, and sisterhood."

About Lambda Sigma Gamma

History

Lambda Sigma Gamma Sorority Inc. was established on October 24, 1986, by 27 strong women at Sacramento State University. As these women navigated higher education, they realized that the campus they were on did not offer an organization that met the needs of women from minority backgrounds. They then came together to create a multicultural sisterhood that is rooted in principles of self-improvement, scholastic excellence, civic responsibility, and leadership. Since then, this organization has grown into a powerful network of diverse women who strive themselves in making a difference.

The ZETA chapter of Lambda Sigma Gamma Sorority Inc. was proudly established at UC Santa Barbara on November 10, 1991, becoming the FIRST multicultural sorority on campus. We are proud to uphold the belief that there is beauty in diversity and strength through sisterhood. Since our establishment on this campus, we have remained committed to creating an inclusive space for women from all cultures and backgrounds. Our members are scholars, leaders, and active members within our communities, working hard to create change little by little. By embracing and learning from our differences, we have been able to build bonds that are genuine and provide a home away from home. Lambda Sigma Gamma Sorority Inc. provides a support system, community, professional development, and a lifelong sisterhood.
