Message From Our President

Name: Joel Garibay Ramirez

Why SLB? Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity Incorporated was built upon Latino-Based values and the advancement of underrepresented communities. The organization stands for utilizing our diverse knowledge, experiences, and network to better the lives of our families, communities, and the world.  My first year I told myself I was not going to join Greek life, but I changed my opinion when I discovered multicultural Greek life and their values my second year. I considered Beta's because as a first generation student I wanted to be part of a diverse group that understood my struggle, would ground me to UCSB, and helped me grow professionally, socially, and academically.  I joined SLB my second year after I got to know the brothers more throughout Fall quarter and researched what SLB was about. I joined SLB because the brotherhood is unique, genuine, empowering, and provided a community I felt welcomed in.
