Sigma Kappa Chi Sorority
Chapter Information
Sigma Kappa Chi was founded both nationally and at UCSB in 1993.
Sigma Kappa Chi Sorority Inc. was founded in 1993 at the University of California, Santa Barbara as an Asian American Interest Sorority. We strive to promote sisterhood, community service, cultural awareness and high academic achievements. Our goal is to provide a lasting contribution to the rapidly growing Asian-American community at UCSB, as well as to strengthen, unify and increase its visibility. Sigma Kappa Chi will provide the opportunity for a strong voice and a successful college career for its members. We are here to respect and support each sister's decisions in life.
In April 1993, a group of women recognized the growing Asian American population at UCSB and saw the need for an organization that could support and unite Asian American women on campus. Seven founding mothers came together to build the foundation of Sigma Kappa Chi, which was officially established on October 12, 1993. Since then, Sigma Kappa Chi has continued to foster sisterhood, cultural awareness, academic excellence, and community involvement at UCSB as the only chapter.
