Lambda Sigma Upsilon Latino Fraternity, Inc. was founded in 1979 by Latino students at Rutgers University who wanted to create a brotherhood that provided community, academic support, cultural representation, and a voice for underrepresented students. Today, LSU's mission is to uplift and unite underrepresented communities by empowering future leaders. Our fraternity is built around four pillars: Academic Excellence, Cultural Awareness and Diversity, Brotherhood, and Being a Role Model to the Community.

The Firme y Libre Ameyalli Chapter was established at UC Santa Barbara on March 8, 2025, bringing Lambda Sigma Upsilon to California and creating a new space for brotherhood, cultural awareness, service, and leadership within the UCSB community. As a young chapter, Ameyalli has focused on building a strong foundation through community service, campus involvement, cultural programming, recruitment, and collaboration with organizations throughout USFC and the greater UCSB community.
